RefConvertor offers a Microsoft Word Add-in that operates within your Word documents. Here is how data is handled:
The add-in requires ReadWriteDocument permission to insert citations and bibliographies into your document. It only accesses the document when you explicitly click "Cite" or "Insert Bibliography." It does not read, scan, upload, or store any content from your documents.
The add-in communicates with our servers only to authenticate your account and fetch your reference library. Citation text is generated server-side and sent to the add-in for insertion. No document content is ever sent to our servers.
Citations already inserted in your document remain there permanently, even without an internet connection. The add-in requires an internet connection only to access your library and generate new citations.
RefConvertor uses essential cookies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. These are necessary for the app to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
RefConvertor is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by email or through a notice within the RefConvertor app. Continued use of RefConvertor after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
